throwing an eye on #1 (2018)

Throwing An Eye On #1 is based on an eye formed from the alphabet of Braille. Following the structure of this eye, spots are digitally cut out of a photograph and, following the same structure, re-inserted slightly displaced into the original image. ◊

◊ The combination of the visual organ with Braille creates another portrait of perception: with our views we throw our eyes onto the world. Conclusions are drawn from the conflicting perceptual processes that take place before, during and afterwards in the brain, in order to conceive and shape time, space and categories. Perception is the first step of this transformation.

The eye of this project shows the possibilities of change that lie in this process and the mercilessness with which it acts. The eye incorporates the world and the world incorporates the eye. ◊
